Default vtec or not

I'm in the prosses of building a y8. I have a y8 head but it is missing the bar thing that goes over the vtec rockers. I can't find one anywhere. So I came across a sohc zc head for $40 should I just buy that? I am using tt rods and vitara pistons.

I have done some research and I think any head other than the y8 is out of the question with vitara's.
