VTEC head on a D15B7?

Re:VTEC head on a D15B7?
Oh no, I gave up on the turbo idea when I realized that I want to keep this as a future family car and didn't want to remove my AC. Not to mention the riskiness of detonation and no guaranteed smooth turbo boost. All I really want is to do some custom work on my car for the sake of learning and a little performance boost (and some 11:1 compression!). I just mentioned the turbo issue because it is a rather pricey option (yes, to me $800-1000 is pricey, even for a turbo)

800-1000 is my retail end of it, do you think I spend that much on kits? I have easily goten away with $300 kits (but we have a pretty good source on turbos and other parts)

Sorry, no turbo for me.... a Mini-me would be a much safer way for me to "break the ice" on my engine work experience. I don't wanna blow my engine up, not that a Mini-me is failproof. Anywho, would there be any benefit to intercooling my Mini-Me N/A setup, since the compression is so high and it's burning a little hotter than stock? I thought maybe it is something I could do to be nicer to my engine and prolong its life. I thought of maybe a little DSM SMIC.

Do I just remove my intake/exhaust manifolds from the old head and transplant them to the new D16Z6 head? I really don't wanna break off one of my rusty old exhaust bolts....
Pretty much.. yes, you can remove the intake manifold with the head at the same time (makes it easier) so you dont have to get those bitch 12mm bolts. The exhaust manifold is going to have to come off either way. Spray heavy lube and let it soak in real good on the bolts, and be sure to use 6 point sockets on all the nuts, (12pts are easier to round nuts off with)
