I'm 99.9% sure you can't. It's speed/rpm based so you can't hit it while under 6mph(I think). I got into a big arguement on another forum about this. The end result was "No, you cannot engage VTEC in neutral unless you are moving because VTEC is speed(VSS)based."

thats right, its also based on oil pressure, thats y there is a oil sensor right on the vtec solenoid. :P oh and the engine must be warmed up.

mmmmm maybe thats why whenever i use to hit vtec, my spedo whould bounch around sense they are togeather, i whould hit vtec and be getting on it , and my ------- speedo whould bounch up and down like a crack ----- that needed a dollar

i have a y7/z6 mini with a comp 59300 .455 lift cam. I have my VTEC hooked up to a VAFC and a manual toggle so i can hit it whenever i want. i activate it at idle when the car is cold and it lopes like a big v8. sounds awesome.
