VR6 Piece of Shit

I knew I shouldn't have bought this Jetta....

I've got an idling problem with a 2000 Jetta VR6. The engine starts and runs for maybe a minute and then stalls. It doesn't stutter, it just shuts off. After it stalls I can't get it started for about 5 minutes. I've only had this car for about 4 months and I've already had to replace a battery, power steering pump and belt tensioner. I think I'm going to drive it over a cliff. :X :X :X I have no check engine lights. There is some kind of noise coming from the back of the engine when the car is shut off. I didn't notice this before i had this problem. Could have been there before i had this problem.

Any help would be great.

it has a variable intake system like a GSR, if it got stuck closed it wouldint set a CEL and would block air from entering your engine causing the stalling
but the flapper is at the front of the intake mani , may be you are hering the noise come out of the intake/TB??

The high pitched hum you hear is the throttle body, thats normal. Since you have no mil its not a fuel injection related issue. Duplicate the problem, then check to see if you have fuel at the rail. Kinda sounds like fuel pump is taking a poo. Or something on the pump circuit, relay, etc.

Thanks guys that noise is coming from the TB. ;)
I've determined that it is a hot start issue. I can start the car cold and drive it all over the place with no problems. Once I shut it off I can't get it started again. I've been reading some vw forums and I've narrowed it down to one of the following things...
Coolant Temperature Sensor
Crank Sensor
Mass airflow sensor(thanks pistol)
I'm going to replace the Coolant Sensor first because it is the cheapest part. I need to check the plugs on it too. I think I've gone half retarded from reading VW forums. Those kids are paying dealers $160 to replace sensors. :S

That was the joke, but I guess you made it more poignant.

Its not the mass air. If it were it would run like ass all the time, and unplugging it would make the car run better. Wont cause a hot-start problem.

Coolant temp is a good place to start if you want to throw parts at it. $35 isnt too bad.

Im kinda partial to the MKV myself. Bought the wife an 08' wolfsburg 2.0T. I love it. Unbolted the exhaust and smoked a 05 rsx type-s. Still gets 36mpg avg. Not bad for $20K out the door.
