Vented vs. non-vented radiator cap?
Okay, simple question for you guys.
What's the difference between a vented and non-vented radiator cap?
I need to pick up a radiator cap for my new radiator setup (neon 1/2 radiator with moroso hose filler), and there are two kinds, one is vented, and the other is not, both are 16lbs and the correct size for this application.
I couldn't find an answer through searcing.

omg...let me go steal the Stant Training video from work and upload it for you 
the differance between vented and un-vented is that one operates in a vacuum state and will pull in coolant from the resivor....or someshit......umm ill try to look it up when im at work today lol

some systems have a resivior(sp?) and some dont. if you are using one then you need the vented i think, and if your coolant overflow is just gonna drain onto the ground then you need the non vented. i could have those backwards, but those are the differences

Okay, so is a regular Honda cap vented or not?
I just picked up a neon radiator for my civic as well as a moroso filler neck. I need to pick up a cap that fits the moroso neck (standard size). I suppose I will pick up the vented cap then.

what i was thinking about i guess was a open and closed vacuum systems. it looks like early (EF's) Honda's had closed, and later Honda;s (EG/EK/DC) had open... that what your looking for? hope so...

ok, the vented cap vs non has nothing to do with whether you have a resevior or not. the vented cap is a safety feature where you can release all of the pressure before opening the radiator to add fluid. if i am not mistaken it had a red handle on top?,...right? don't get that piece of crap, get oem. every cooling system has to have an overflow system, when the temp get hotter the excess pressure and fluid has to go somewhere, when the car cools down it simply sucks it back in. the reason the caps are rated 16lbs is because when the pressure in the radiator get to 16lbs it let's any pressure over that,..out.
