Used rings FTW! Update!!!

Used rings FTW! Update!!!
I gotta change a pr3 piston in my b16 on the extreme cheap, so I figured since I still have 4 spare pr3 pistons and rods I might as well change the entire rod/piston assembly on the #1 cylinder that has the broken ringlands. Question is, I really don't want to have to go buy a complete set of rings just for 1 piston, and all my money is tied up in my LS block so far. Can I just give the cylinder a quick pass through with the hone and re-use one of the many sets of old rings I have laying around for a few weeks? Or possibly even the one's off the original pr3's for now? Normally I'd say the hell with it and finish putting my b18a1 block together, but I ran out of money for the next 2 weeks and I still need 2 bearing sets and rings for that as well. :P

Re: Piston change on the dirtier than dirty cheap...re-use rings? :D
just reuse some rings... dont hone that ----... waste of time, its either gonna seal or not...
now for my story:
when my LSVTEC broke all its pistons, i dug out my other LS block, ripped all the pistons/rods out. and strait threw the ******* in my motor, rings/bearings/all without honing it... just cleaned them up a little with some PB Blaster to make sure the rings wernt stuck (some where a little carbed up) then threw them in the motor... on the last one the top ring snagged and BROKE... ---- what do i do?!?! i grab one of the BROKEN pistons, one of the "better" ones, and snag the top ring off that... 220psi ACROSS..

Haha...you guys were right...used rings FTW!!! Just got to spin it today for a compression check, 215psi bitches. Now I'm kinda upset I didn't pull all the rods off and re-arrange the rings. :P
