UK spec CRX
hi guys
am from the UK and am having a problem attaching a turbo to my CRX, it is a 1989 D16a9 with a few basic modifications however I understand there is a standard honda manifold out there somewhere that will allow a t3 or t4 garrett turbo to bolt on with not much agro..... does anyone have the engine codes for the cars these manifolds are found on?? i.e. D16... also am I correct in saying D series manifolds are all interchangable?
any help would be great then I can hit the scrap yards.... My manifold is a 4-2 -1 I imagine I am looking for a 4-1 manifold.
thanks

Re:UK spec CRX
That is correct D-series exhaust manifolds do interchange..
But heres the problem, I dont know if the EDM has the same manifolds over their.. I dont know exactly what model cars they were on. But I do remember browsing through this junkyard over in Ireland and seeing the HF/STD manifold on a D14. the manifolds are incredibly easy to identify.
You can see how short they are, they have a precat attached right underneith them.
I dont think you will find one of these manifolds on any D16's.. Mainly on D15's and some D14's... Hell you might even see one on a D13 over their!
Keep in mind, that you cannot simply bolt a turbo directly to this manifold, you will have to make an "adapter plate" to adapt the manifold to the turbocharger.

Re:UK spec CRX
thats great, im guessing if i can get a d16 that will prob have wider ports than say a d13 or d14, i think i just gotta visit the junk yard sometime and have a nose about. I have the intercooler and a load of oil coolers to fit. A guy i was talking to used to race these d16a9/8's and he said oil coolers work pretty well on these... something to bear in mind as your climate is hotter over there.

Re:UK spec CRX
I'm from West Londaon and i've searched pretty much all the scrappies in west london and east london with no luck. But if you guys can supply a turbo header for a D16 at a reasonable price i'm up for one too I actually went to my local honda dealer and got them to print out pretty much every exhaust manifold ever put on a UK spec civic and none of them are like the ones in the US. The closest i've got is a mid 90's civic (plate was off so can't be sure) which had a pre-cat but it was boulded on to the manifold and not bolted on. So i was just going to grind the precat off and weld on an adapter plate to take a t25.

Re:UK spec CRX
seems the UK enthusiast club is taking off quite nicely...
hi cel_912 I was about to take this approach with my local honda garage, did u check all 92-95 civic's and integra's too??
What engine do you have if you dont mind me asking? mine is the D16a9 with no cat and 130-135BHP (dependant upon which website you check) as standard

Re:UK spec CRX
d15b6 and d15b8 for US spec
Trust me guys, I know they have them over their, I saw 2 or 3 on some civics in the junkyards in ireland. they will NOT be on any 1.6l's
check the d15's d14's and d13's
The newer style has the cat and manifold as 1 unit.. you dont want those..
