1, take out the other side and put a rod through to the other shaft and hammer it out(4lb mini)
OR
2, pull the shaft out of the cup and leave the cup in the tranny, change the boot and repack it when it goes back together

sweet.. i was under my crx jacked up one side on a shady jack stand other side on some breaks grabbing the axel with both hands from under the car and shaking it back and fourth watching the entire car ontop of me and the bricks holding it up sway side to side with ---- falling into my eyes.. but finally got it out at about the 5th or 6th rock and tug...

all ya have to do is use a prybar or flathead on the top and bottom or each side and pry that ---- out... the thing is to NOT just pry at one point it has to be 2 diff points.

axel still not out, got one more question how rusted is the axel>tranny cup supposed to be? this thing is brown as ---- and lookes like the set it left the factory with

Ok I also had this happen on my D series before I put the H22A in. Easy thing to do is cut the boot. Then when your ready to put back together get a new one piece boot, new hi temp axle grease"usually comes in a bag on it's own" , and two new clamps. I recommend the original replacment bands and not some hose clamps that I've been forced to use at the drag races. It's not that bad and maybe cost you $20 and 5 mins versus all the time you already spent.
