ok well iv been thinking of building a high HP SOHC but then after many days of thinking i dont want just raw power im more into acceleration and alot of that is the gearing in your tranny...i already had a turbo rebuilt and customized for my engine specs im building the engine for roadracing the fastest acceleration and decent power...somwhere near 350 hp...anyway im curioouse what gears are interchangable between the honda D-series tranny's..would it be possible to use different gears to make a perfect tranny for my set up??

well the engine is going to be pushing around 350hp but im not to crazy on top speed...i now have the ex tranny from a d16z6...i just want the fastest acceleration as possible out of a tranny and a top speed around 130...is it possible??

"fastest accelerating tranny" won't do you any good if you don't have traction.

EX/Si with CRX 4th gear and a OBX, good enough for low 11's

so the tranny i have with an obx lsd some traction bars an a Si 4th gear will be good for what im looking for? the car isnt being built for the drag strip its being built for a road course

ya get a hf 3rd gear and use at 4th gear in a si ex tranny..
Hybrid using ZC 3rd and 4th gears
1st----3.250---0000/7200---35.2mph
2nd---1.900---4209/7200---60.2mph
3rd----1.346---5101/7200---85.0mph
4th----1.033---5526/7200---110.7mph
5th----0.750---5228/7200---152.5mph

For 92-95 trannys it is best to use the HF/STD 3rd gear of 1.033 for 4th gear.
If you use the ZC 4th gear it will require grinding to fit the synchro hub.

thanks iv been looking this up alot lately and have been thinking about doing it??..it it hard to rebuild a tranny..im also going to get and lsd..but the tranny is going to be for complete acceleration its going to be a time attack car basically...but anyway thanks for the tips

The issue still remains getting a ZC 3rd gear. You have to buy a DOHC ZC tranny. You can get lucky/unlucky and get a ZXi tranny which has normal CRX Si/DX 1-5, but 4.437 FD.

^^ i see i see..is their any possible way i could interchange gears without to much machining??and is it possible to rebuild a tranny by yourself?? i mean i could build an engine fine..i know tranny's are different from motors but the building concept is the same right?..and im getting traction bars also ..so the traction issue wont be a problem...without the lsd how much would it cost to build a decent tranny setup? and how much is a tranny rebuild? maybe a kit??...im a noob at the tranny stuff but im learning

so a hf tranny would be off an older civic rite? like a cable tranny? and u can swap that 3rd gear into a hydro tranny??
