This one is the twin turbo all wheel drive 6 speed, exactly what i'm wanting. My budget is about 60k for it (almost half is paid for by navy and their wonderful SRB's they give :) )

I think this ones about 7k too much but I'm sure I can find 7k to add to the 60k i'm spending :p

Be VERY careful about the 996 to 997 conversions as the rear quarters DO NOT line up correctly. There will be cut sheet metal, and there will be welding on the frame. Last one I saw pass through was nothing less than a flat out hack job. Not saying it cant be done correctly, but few shops have the means to do so.

If you pay $60K for a 996TT you probably paid too much in this market. Dont get ripped off. 996TT is an awesome car, and I plan to buy one myself within the next 3 years. Parts and labor to repair a Porsche add up quickly, make sure you know what your getting into before you buy.

ya the work on this one was done by the most reputable shop, with all oem parts... Definitely done right but i gotta see it in person to decide for myself... Car has 40k invested in the conversion, guys sellin it cuz of the economy. Ya i'm findin em for in the 40's though so I may go cheaper n get one.

Take a 10mm ratchet/socket with you, and pull one of the taillights before/if you buy. Just a thought.

There was a guy on the Fab forum not too long ago building t3 flanged exhaust mani's for the GT engines, ill see if I can find the thread.

Things to look for on the 996TT, if the clutch engages high, prepare to spend $$$. Parts themselves arent expensive, but you have to pull the whole drivetrain to get to the clutch, motor and all. Everything is packed in tight, so the least little problem will quickly become a nightmare if you intend to work on it yourself. Bypass valves are notorious for going bad. The upgraded one is $130 and you'll have 2 so not big deal there. Carbon fiber trim (if equipped) peels up and is real carbon fiber and stupid expensive to replace. Eh, thats about it. They are MUCH more reliable than the M96 based non-turbo carreras, but you still gotta take care of them.

I have 2 of these d15b8 engines laying around.

i've got one too, but the head is still on it.

i'm pretty sure that the b8 boat anchors have 4 valve reliefs in the pistions even though its a 8 valve.
