thinking about a destroke build.....
did a google and a hmt search on it and all i could get is that theoldone has done it before but no info/pro/cons. i can get pretty much any d-series block possible. but they all need rebuilts for one reason or another. just kinda wanted to do something different.
so anyways. i checked out the d-series calculator again...saw where it said it was somewhat sketchy. so heres what i tried....d16/7 block with d15 crank, d15z1 head, d16/7 rods, and a y8 head gasket. y8 pistons give it 8.6 c/r and z6 pistons give it 8.4 c/r.
this will be my first complete engine rebuild. just curious if the d15 crank can be used with no problem. or if theres a better way to do it. money is tight so im not interested in "custom" high dollar crank and ----

Re: thinking about a destroke build.....
i was just thinking about a destroking a motor though. been around to many old v8 guys swapping cranks into other motors. any block i get will need a rebuild anyways. and i can get even better deal on a bare block...(possibly free).

Re: thinking about a destroke build.....
well the bore is the same on all d's so your going no where fast
not to mention d15 cranks dont fit in d16 blocks
again you want to actually do it contact bisimoto and get the wallet out. Big bore is the only route with destroking
I simple way is buy a 1.5 and there less stroke

Well it won't be mega cheap. Just do like they and you said and TT/Vitara what you have already. It's not going to make a big difference.
