I'm not flaming, just thought those numbers were about on par with a tuned dseries n/a.

i think its realistic, down here in AZ there is a hatch from Superior racing development that has only 158 HP that its running 12.6. In a light car i think horsepower numbers dont mean anything its the torque that gives you accelleration. http://www.superiorracing.com/

well why the ---- did they put a UNTUNNED... with no purpose of tunning...on damn dyno in the first place!

running 12 or more compression on pump gas is bad idea the gas mix is inconsistant. and remembering to put half a gallon of octane booster cost as much as a tank a gas.

ran 11.4:1 over year ( until 92+water make BOOM!)

its hard to get a good mix of gas for daily driven high compression engine .4 BIG cans of Outlaw booster.. each fill up..

and 148hp to the WHEELS is DOG POOP!!...for SOHC.N/A at that

with that much compression he needs a Header, Another Cam, ECU programming, suggest carbs ( for ease of tunning ), Capacitive discharge system, to imporve drivablity
diffrent heat range plugs, that stock ones for that motor arn't too good.
detination at start up just says that cold start loop is too lean. and the fuel octane is to low and the timing is improper..
another moron and a honda..

okay. nice reading about myself on a board i haven't visited. so hello to you to.

to get some things straightened out. i put the car on the dyno to come in as the the slowest car at the dyno party that night, think about it, a mustang dyno meant mustangs were around, who are way higher in whp and torque than me. my boi put his new xB on and i for fun put mine on. sadly i took 2nd place. (it's a joke people, get it?) so that is why the car wasn't put on for dyno tuning purposes. and i haven't had the cash flow to do proper dyno tuning. though secret services has made me an offer.

this sohc project was done so that i could learn the inner workings of an engine. strip it down to bare block/head and rebuild them up. my boi designed the build and taught me how to do the labor. my money, my time, my learning experience and i don't give a ---- if you think it's a waste or not. i loved it and hope to continue working on Honda engines.

a typical mini me swap from my understanding normally puts down 132 whp. well in stage 1 of this build (there are two more to go) i put down 148 whp/125 ft/lb of torque and yes i am happy with that and torque numbers beat a b16a and close in on the GSR. with the final build stage and proper tuning i hope to gain 5 to 7 more at the wheels. (maybe cuz i am a gurl i am happy or maybe it's because i just like to see what i can do that made me happy. yes i know...who lives for the simple things these days?)

now my car is expected to run 14's, where you people got anything lower is freakin beyond me and right now the car isn't even pulling 15's at the track. i have 14 year old suspension and stupid 17" rims (stupid decisions at a younger age) to thank for that. but that is all being changed in stage II.

the car must be done as a total package to achieve a good track time. (just think a gurl who knows this! yes run, hide and be scared).

my compression is 12.6:1 on a 78,000's headgasket. stock headgasket it 14.7:1 and the engine ran on 100 oct but the bearings didn't love it much. <--- DUH!

we have achieved running 93 oct by dialing everything in together. it runs rich when i hit it hard (which isn't too often) and the sprak plugs are CLEAN all the way across. they really hate me for that...lol.

i absolutely do not like nitrous oxide. i refuse to put it near any of my engines. i know properly managed it can make a difference, it's just not my thing.

i try to stick with newer gas stations and only one brand of fuel. as i work for an environmental engineering firm who works with a large petroleum client, i know the horrors of old tanks and the water tables in the state of FL. water in gasoline can damage the hell out of my engine. but that is a chance we all take everytime we fill up. NOTHING IS PERFECT.

so far the engine hasn't missed a beat. it's a very strong and fun FOR ME daily driver. and that's what it is about, it was built FOR ME NOT YOU! but you are entitled to your own opinion and I WISH YOU all the best of luck with your builds. i know there are bigger and better builds out there and hope to run into them someday.

look most of you don't know me, but do know this. i don't brag about what i do. i am just happy with what i do and i love to learn. my experience with this engine has been awesome and stage III should finish out some of the issues that need to be worked out for daily management and when I want to really get on it.

the car has been with me since it came off the lot in October of 1990, he isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

thebluecrx:

hi! hope to see you out tonight. 400 whp? the b16a sirI that is now in my rex is only going to put down 200 whp and it's going back to the charger not the turbo as i thought was going to happen. long story. anyway. it's not a big build but should be fun for me to drive.

falkhen:

i'm a gurl. i'm not a moron. and i bet i've been driving Honda way longer than you have, if you have. and through your words of distaste i have found a few suggestions to consider and some things that i have already done and will be done in stage III. but hey thanx for judging me, and all this time i thought i had to wait until i was dead for God to judge me. glad to know you want to help with that. here's a bit of advice, you don't want that job. good luck to you on whatever it is you do and sorry your friends compression ration of 11.4:1 (which isn't very high) went BOOM on something that obviously was not on purpose. but from what i've read, you probably blamed that person.
