I know there is a huge thread on HT about these but I want to know how HMT feels about them. Personally I think they are better than stock. People post about running them, obviously the low compression is a plus but supposedly they have a special coating on them? Bambooseven is worried about HG's blowing because of the combustion being down in the cylinder as opposed to being in the head. I said to deck the block but then it would be just like running stock Honda pistons if indeed these pistons are hype. The guy on HT selling them is running them in his own car, that must count for something. What's everyone think?

 

I changed my mind about them when I learned they are cast pistons just like the factory pistons. If I'm going to replace a piston it's not going to be with another cast piston......no matter what kind of chemical it was washed with or fancy name they call the material to hype the sales.

Want low compression w/ cast pistons get a thicker head gasket.Not worth it. Goin to build a bottom end pistons/rods are so cheap these days do it once and be done with it

yea dude, blow that thing up already. and get a z6. then if you wanna get some pistons, dont waste your time on cast pistons, get the good stuff

 

If you want a set I know the guy that sells them. Its FJT from www.civichatchback.com I burned his base map and sent him chips, he may hook me up if you want them. Let me know. Just so you know they drop your compression to the low 8's.

 

building an engine imo is something you don't want to cheap out on

 

I'm not cheaping out, but this semester I have the opportunity to build my motor in a shop. I won't have to buy any specialty tools and can help myself to the machinery. When you're broke building a motor you have to save money somewhere. I have a Y7 I am building (full story and pics in a couple days). After getting a fresh rebuild on all seals, gaskets, bearings, studs and bolts, not to mention a badly needed clutch it leaves little money left for forged internals. I go to college, I don't have a job here at school, I have class 10 hours a day. We'll see what happens but, I will probably end up running these pistons, I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

 

That would be nice to have a right up for d series engine build up (ot that many out there).
