surging idle help!!!

ever since i got my b16a in my atchback its had a idle problem ..the idle will surge from about 1000-1300 and keeps going on like at stop lights and when my car is just ideling i was told that it was because i was using a single wire o2 sensor so i bought a 4 wire heated and put it on and it still does it .....mabye a vacuum leak????

any help would be appreciated

Re:surging idle help!!!

Also check your fast idle valve on the back(I think) of the intake manifold. That's a common problem.

This might help.
Components might be in different spots on your 92, but its all relative.

Re:surging idle help!!!

i had the same problem once with a crv motor into a crx....it turned out to be a vacuum leak....we sprayed starting fluid over all the vacuum lines and found out which one it was...so we changed it and it never surged again...and just like ur problem it was from 1k to 3k rpms...wierd but it could also be other things too..

Re:surging idle help!!!

starting fluid? i assume the idle changes when you've sprayed the correct one?

Re:surging idle help!!!

so i should just spray some fluid over the hoses behind the motor and check for bubbles on the hoses is there anything i could use besides starting fluid???

thanks

Re:surging idle help!!!

flush your radiator and check coolant lines & hoses... sounds simple/silly, but this has been known to be the cause of an eratic idle
