Stranded: Y8 blew... now Y7/Z6 mini-me
Well, I'm really desperate to get my car back up. My stock Y8 couldnt hold 10 psi anymore after 5 yrs of boost, so #4 piston gave up and a 3/8" piece of it is nowhere to be found. The Y8 head is damaged as well.
After so many problems, I completed dropping in a Y7 block, a Z6 head, and a Y8 intake manifold. The problem is, the car wouldnt start. I was told to use a Z6 timing belt.... which I did. I couldnt find a Z6 distributor, so I modified my Y8 dizzy to make one bolt line up at the top.
The first time I cranked the car, it ran for about 10 secs and sounded normal. It wouldnt start anymore after that.
Tell me what else I'm doing wrong? Will the modified Y8 dizzy work in this set-up?
I checked the fuel pressure= normal. I checked sparks on all spark plugs= normal. I checked the compression= normal.
Any other ideas? Once I get this up, the turbo kit is going away. Time to put this back on stock form so I can trade it in.
Thanks for your time.

I cant get the car to run or idle long enough to toss a code. I thought that the P28 will get that crank position code eliminated. I also relapped the vavles on this Z6 head. Would be possible that I reassembled the head wrong as far as the camshaft? I tripled quadrupled check the timing already as well. The only thing I made sure when i was putting the Z6 head together was follow the torque specs designed for a Y8 head. It should be close, if not the same. I have an OBD1 dizzy but for a DX and the bolt hole wont match up. I guess I should give it a shot by temporarily just securing it in place to see what it does. I'm gonna work on it some more tomorrow but i surely appreciate your input man. Anybody else is more than welcome to drop their 2 cents..... thanks
i don't think the y8 dizzy can work with the P28 ECU, maybe i'm wrong.. i believe the crank sensor angles are differen't? thats why my z6 dizzy wouldn't work with my A6 ECU
EDIT: weird didn't know that...
EDIT: weird didn't know that...
all obd2 conversions to obd1 in a car dont require nay new dist or wiring changes at the dist just plug in the adpater harness and the new ecu good to go unless all the swpas i have done were wired behind my back LOL. What car is this
