Stranded: Y8 blew... now Y7/Z6 mini-me
This is a 99 civic EX.
Chris is right tho. Before my Y8 motor gave up, I was already converted to OBD1 P28 for at least 2 years with no codes. The only thing I had to do was a conversion harness and P28... no dizzy conversion.
Jeff, I didnt do the valve lash after relapping. I think that is a good idea to check.
I also noticed that each time I try cranking this bitch, it drains my battery quicker than it should. I can get 3 good cranks out of it. That's it....
More input please..... I'm about to ------- drive this car to a ditch and just let the insurance company total it.....

Now looking at a Y8 dizzy and OBD1 DX dizzy, the clips are identical however the OBD1 DX dizzy is lacking of one pin, which appears to be the black/yellow wire (if layed out with the Y8 dizzy). There is a black/yellow wire on a different clip on the OBD1 DX dizzy. Can I just jump this wire to the harness?

I'm using a obd2 dx dizzy on my p28. y7 dizzy on a HX head running off a p28. Man you gotta love the interchangeability of honda parts.
I even ran a z6 off a p06 and never had any problems besides no vtec.
