Stiriped my O2 sensor
so after getting a code 46 for whole 6 months.
now my o2 sensor finally goes out (no signal at all) last night i was going to take it out with a O2 sensor socket but striped the whole thing and now there`s no mother ------- way that i can remove it... any idea? or does anyone has a D16 OEM 4-2-1 exhaust manifold (just the top piece, with a REMOVEABLE O2 sensor ) |
Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
you just stripped the nut right???? what i usually do is get some vicegrips.... and a mallot... tighten the vicegrips on the sensor... douse it with wd40... and start whacking awaywith the mallot.... eventually it will break loose... or you will hit yorself... real good...
Have fun... |
Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
yep did the same thing last week....paid 20 bucks cdn for it to end up stripping it. Then tried a vice grip and that stripped it even more lol. So had to get a new O2. :'(

Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
turn the car on and let it heat that header bright red then give it a good wack, never take bolts off your exhaust or o2 sensors with handtools cold, you will strip it every time.

Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
i tried it both hot and cold and still don`t work.
i was using a 3 feet breaker bar, pushed it as much as i can, but after a while the dam o2 socket start to flex and stripped it... will tried it one more time today with a freaking hammer. |
Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
my bro had the same problem, excpet with the drain plug...what we did was spray some penetraiting lube on it...let it sit for a while and use some "vice grips" and it eventually came free...the bolt was over-tightened and stripped :(

Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
Last effort on one I had was breaking the top off, drilling a hole in the middle and increasing the drill bit in size. Once the walls were thin, used a chisle and hammer and it collapsed. It was a bitch, but it worked and the threads on the mani were still good. That would be the last option.

Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
finally have to replace the whole manifold.
for some reason just by replacing the o2 sensor with a new one, the car pulls a LOT harder...(THANKS Albert ;)) |
Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
don't u guys mean you rounded the o2 sensor nut.. stripping is reserved for threads.
Doesn't anyone just use a torch and heat up the area then turn it? Yeah I know sometimes you're still fucked, then you have to break out the fabrication tools. |
Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
go out and buy a gator grip and a breaker bar, works every time, but u'll have to saw off most of the sensor.
|
Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
gator grips are a ------- joke.
i've broken them before. |

Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
I try and not weld my tools.. they tend to not offer warranties if they have been welded. I will weld stupid ---- together, like a beer can to a muffler if I'm drunk/bored.
I also leave my tools outside and let them get rusted, then return them to sears and say "gimme new one!" works every time.. matter of fact I had a brand new OHV spring compressor I left out on the porch (for 2 months) that's gonna go back to sears. |

Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
get ur self a can of map gas and them gator grips and ull be set. get the mani red hot it WILL com out
|
Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
good; I REPEAT GOOD penetrating lube is your friend
that and an acetelyne torch; not mapp gas (it stinks too damn much); maybe even acetelyne/oxygen if you want to cut the bitch out :p |
Re:Stiriped my O2 sensor
yeah i think you're fucked for saving the threads/section of pipe/o2 sensors.
If vice grips can't do then it can't be done. |
