Default Speed sensor (CRX B swap)

Well the swap is running awesome, didn't smoke on start up and damn its fast the only problem is I'm getting a code 17 (VSS) and I know why but i can't seem to get the cable to stay in the tranny. I push it in and it seems to click and then I add the little clip but if you pull on it a little bit it pops out?? Of course the speedo dosn't work so I don't know how fast I'm going which I'm not concerned about but i would like to fix it, is there any tricks? 91 CRX si B18B w/ 91 cable LS tranny any help would be great thanks...Matt

Since this is pissing me off too....I searched on H-T for you and it seems that you have to line up the gear on the cable perfectly with the one in the tranny. Some people suggested rolling the car a bit while doing it and that made it go in pretty easily. Worth a try i guess. But it seems like there was a shitload of people with the same exact problem and that answer pretty much fixed everyones problem. I just hope something isnt broken off of that cable b/c it did come out like a bitch.

I have acually jacked up the front tires put it in first and let the tires turn before and then put the cable in so it will line up, normally not needed but sometimes.........

Good luck rolling the car while it's in gear :P I just stuck it in, if it wasn't where it was supposed to be, pulled it out and turned the cable end a little and tried again. You'll know when it goes in...drops down a bit further than all the previous times, and the clip will line up nicely too.

Heres what I do. I just changed the speeo cable in my CRX. Pull the cable portion out far enough to be able to rotate it freely. Then stick the cable end in and rotate it till it seats in the slot. Then slide the cover down over the it and put the clip on making sure one leg of the clip fully is set in the groove.

I dont see how. It looks entirely different to me. Too bad he already sold his tranny.... Well at least there is an overabundance of them in the j/y. Worth a try.
