the sounds of pinging?

the sounds of pinging?
what does it sound like? I used to think it sounded like a hammer hitting an anvil, but I have a noise coming from my motor and my dad says it's pinging. it's hard to describe, it's like a bunch of BBs hitting concrete.

Re:the sounds of pinging?
ever take the end of your hose and bend it? (like write where the water spits out of it). That sounds ALOT like what pinging did in my car before my motor blew up. I guess the other way to think of it is as the sound of tapping from under the hood.

chacko helped, hotrex and RENR can eat a dick.
I definetely have pinging then, I hear it everyday yet my motor has not blown, I must be lucky.
I only started to hear this noise after I removed everything involving heating and cooling in my car and had to make a bypass hose for my lack of heater core. at first I thought it was the air bubbles in my bypass hose, but it could also be that I can hear the engine alot better without all that ---- in the way.

Re:the sounds of pinging?
Explain what exactly you removed?
I would ease up on the boost until you can get this taken care of. My car ran with pinging (I didn't know what it was either) for about 6,000 miles possibly more. Then I finally spun a bearing, and everything fell apart.
But any revolution with detonation is a chance to knock apart the motor. I almost gurantee that you're already suffering internal damage (the rods are probably starting to shake loose of the connecting bearings).
So get that ---- fixed so your motor lasts bro

I removed everything. I took out the blower motor, the ac condenser thing, the heater core, the whole vent routing system and my whole center console with my hot/cold control and stereo. then I just hooked up the line that goes into the heater core to the line that comes from the heater core, and the little valve thing in the coolant line is closed.
also, it seems to only do it when I put the engine under moderate strain, like driving up hill at 30% or so throttle, but it isn't noticable at wot at all. also when I'm at low rpm and I press the gas from low to about 50% or more it does it. and it does it more when I have more weight in the car.

Re:the sounds of pinging?
Is your engine over heating then? I'm lost in to how you can be pinging that way hrm.... things must be running way to hot on your intake. Perhaps you should consider a water injection kit, or try running higher octane. Or maybe even... running a filter straight off the intake manifold instead of through the turbo piping . (I"m assuming you're boosted at some level?)
Let me know what you got in your setup, maybe I can help you out.
Why were you taking out your blower? Weight reduction?
