SOHC ZC VTEC 1.5 OR 1.6 ?

Hey yall, wats sup..new to site and forum. Mad props to this site by the way. Ok..here's my problem..I blew up my d16z6 with nitrous and at the time I had just finish my turbo setup- t3/t4, which I had to sell cause I was broke from building it and needed money to replace my engine..so..had to sell my 2 year project ----! any ways I could'nt afford a b series engine, so I bought what I thought at the time was an exact replacement but jdm version of the d16z6, but I guess its not. The block say's "zc" and thats it nothing else and I've been trying to do some search on this engine..so far no info I can use. Some web site I went to said that the zc makes 130 hp but does not mention if its sohc. Any info would be helpful, peace out fellaz.

yours is a single cam? its a 1.6 motor like the Si/D16A6 motor with a little higher compression with like ~110-118hp. the 130hp is the DOHC motor...

Re:SOHC ZC VTEC 1.5 OR 1.6 ?

hmm....so your saying that this engine is producing less hp then a d16z6, strange.. cause this engine is a vtec it should atleast make more hp than an si 1.6 none vtec. It pulls pretty good feels better than my d16z6 but some places says there's two version of the vtec sohc zc a 1.5 and 1.6, I just wanna make sure that this egine is a 1.6 before I turbo charge it, dont wanna waste time on a 1.5. maybe I'm wrong. Keep the info comming. peace out.

Re:SOHC ZC VTEC 1.5 OR 1.6 ?

if the block says ZC, its a 1.6l

ZC's are considered Non-vtec engines,

1.6l SOHC ZC's can get the Vtec head swapped on them, (it is called a Mini-me) and will put more output than a d16z6

1.6l SOHC ZC's put roughly 118hp to the flywheel, with the correct ECU.

but sometimes people get mixed up calling the ZC-G the B16a, which is dohc vtec.

There is a sohc vtec zc. I got one years ago directly off a container from an importer down here in so cal. From what i understand they are rated at 135 hp. The vti sohc vtec motor the 1.5 liter there makes 130 and also comes with a lsd if you decide to get the tranny with it. Sweet stuff for all the d series junkies out there. Just picked one of those up this weekend at soken in L.a. They exist. Also most Jdm motors extra power comes from higer comp.

---- all 3 motors.
do a b18a swap in that bitch. torque, t25 and boost = oh so nice torque curve!!

I would like to see some proof.. not saying its not true, but I have never seen one in my life, nor have I ever seen one on any EDM or JDM motor sheets.

proof of the 1.5 vtec motor.

here is proof for the sohc vtec zc http://pgmfi.crx-forum.org/resources...ification.html

Look under p70 ecu. Sorry no pics but they exist.
I have installed a few in my day and they say zc on the block. Do a search on yahoo with sohc vtec zc you will come up with some more sites. Also the p70 ecu is internally identical to a p28 ecu and can be chipped just chipped a jdm sohc vtec zc ecu today.

Proof!!!

Re:SOHC ZC VTEC 1.5 OR 1.6 ?

interesting... I knew their was d15 vtec's, and d14's I drove a few while I was on my trip to Ireland. So it looks like the OBD1 SOHC ZC did come in vtec then eh.. wow, guess you learn something everyday ;)

I still would like to see one..
