Don't mix blocks and heads. Don't do any hybrid combos. Stick with one motor. BTW I have a set of rods and pistons in the fs section. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=86344.0

Yes the oil pumps are the weak link in those motors. I would stick the a6 or z6 and boost away.

Freshly rebuild means nothing unless head had a ton of miles on it. Port and polished means angle grinder and a few hours. Crower valve train means time for a new cam, other than that you are on your way. You could use a y8 or y7 block just port the oil pump and shim it to increase flow and pressure. BTW buy my stuff NOW!!! .

You shim the spring in the oil pump in order to increase pressure. This means it will take more pressure for the spring to compress and bypass oil back into your oil pan. I heard this can also be accomplished by removing the washer that's on the allen screw.

the Y series pumps dont not fail because of oil pressure they fail because of a faulty bearing design.. bumpin gup the pressure isnt going to stop the pump from failing.. i have heard of guys runing z6 oil pumps on them.. i havent tried this for myself but i hear it works..
