smoking n/a b18a***UPDATE w/SPARK PLUG PICS***

so i bought my brothers integra that had some problems. first it was the clutch now a new clutch is on the way. now i find out that it smokes when you gun it. im sure its after 5k to 7k. i thought it could be the rings?? but then i got to thinking and maybe its the valve stem seals or something with the head. i figure it might not be worth it to take the head apart and replace the valve stem seals and just go ls/vtec. what do you guys think? how do i figure out if its the head or the rings without taking ---- apart. im too fucken lazy :-X. can i do a compression test to see if its the rings

Usually if it's the valve stem seals you'll notice some puffs of bluish smoke after decelerating in gear, where your vacuum is high. Then as soon as you give it some gas you'll see the smoke out the rear. Another way to see if it's the dseals or guides leaking is to remove the exhaust manifold/header and look at the valves for any oily moisture. thats a good sign that the seals are allowing oil to pass through.
I recently sent my head out to a machine shop because I had replaced my valve seals and it was still smoking. I gave it to them to change the guides too but they found small cracks in the combustion chambers and said the head is junk. That could be the reason for my smoking. But, it's a possibility fo others as well. Definately check out the compression and see where your standing.

yeah im probably gonna check the compression on monday to see where its at. ill post the results in a few days. i hope its the valve stem seals. haha i really dont feel like rebuilding the motor right now. id rather just swap in a vtec head and be done with it.

okay so i went to do a compression test today at my buddy house. and it didnt come out as good as i thought. is there any way valve lash could cause it to be this way? ehh i guess the rings are toast. when i put oil in number 2 . the numbers went up to 200. did i do this wrong? pulled all the plugs out. pulled the ecu fuse. did it at WOT :'(

I'll help you, but I'm not driving out to wherever your car is. The best bet is to buy another ls block and we'll do a rebuild on that. ;)

haha the car still runs...i drive this ---- everyday. how long do you think it'll take to rebuild this bitch. im looking to get it done in a weekend. as far as rod bearings go i wonder if i should wait to buy those till i tear(sp?) block apart to order the right ones. or do you just want me to buy another ls block so i can donate one to you ;)
