Re: to sleeve or not to sleeve
300 to 400 hp without sleeves you will be fine( with a good tune ). If you are going to sleeve it you dont need to spend $1500. It only cost me $1100 shipped to get my block done by "Benson Racing", One of the best machinist in the world. Golden Eagle is a goog company too. I dont even think it cost a $1000 shipped. You can also buy a Golden Eagle sleeved LS block on lightning motorsports.com for $900 plus like $25 for shipping, you get to choose your bore size 81mm 85mm.

but didn't hotsex's filled block crack? seems more like a fad to me than a solid method of cylinder reinforcement. |

Re: to sleeve or not to sleeve
Hotrex's B16 was bad gas, guys. If you want to crack on him about anything crack on him for blowing three engines in one month, with the final engine/setup going up in flames.

Word that motor in a track car running race gas would still be running to this day most likely. Hotrex didnt even build the motor he had a machine shop build it. Oh and Chris Harris tuned the car so it was done right has Chris is OG and does the stuff daily. People who do this stuff daily and are still in business are for a reason they dont ---- UP Beau aka one of the guys who started this site ran 10's on a filled b16a block and was around the 500 whp range. He is the guy who got everyone into it which shows how few people have been around this site for awhile My mentor was running low 10's on a blockguard does that mean they work not really neither does it say it didnt. To many options in builds etc |
Re: to sleeve or not to sleeve
i would say block guard or fill it.. its cheap insurance? you're looking at 100 either way.

Sleeves split in the middle of the bore, jarebear667, what is a blockguard at the very top going to do?
