Default Skunk2 intakes

Hey, they have these skunk2 intake and throttle body combos on ebay for about 450 dollars......
With the 70mm throttlebody would it be a dramatic diff....than the stock intake and TB??
Its on a B16a in a CRX Hf....
would it be better to have that with turbo

the manifolds are pretty good but the tb's suck *****. they didn't to enough r&d on them before releasing them. plus their im's only come with a 62mm opening.

70mm is way too big for a b16, unless of course you have a head that flows hella good and a badass exaust mani i would stay away from it. seomtimes bigger isn't always better .

Skank2/Hype-R manifolds and knock-offs are pretty much pointless on a more or less stock b16. Believe it or not, the stock b16 intake has a better power band when compared to a type-r on the same setup up to around 8k rpms, then the type-r/type-r copies usually make a hair more in the upper range.

Want to make better power from a b16a? Bigger cams and a nice set of valve springs (like omni's, they're excellent so far even for the replacement SiRII cams I got from Chris), a bump in compression (for n/a builds), and a slightly larger TB port-matched to the intake with the intake runners cleaned up a ported a hair. Head porting will get you some gains if done correctly, but you really have to know where to take out and leave material to make gains, otherwise you have a much greater chance of decreasing the head's flow.

It's not as easy as people think to make power from a b16a unless you're boosted.

Ya its amazing how many factory ported manifolds I have done for people then switched to for example like a skunk2 and went back to the stock ported manifold

powerbands that can be used win races. 3hp gain at 8500 rpm's isnt doing any good

How much does cams...(good ones) usually run??
Is it a direct bolt on...?
Or will I have to get the springs and such with them too along with the cam gears
