Re: shiming an oil pump?
Oil pumps are positive displacement pumps. They pump the same volume of oil every revolution, your flow is always the same (minus losses due to wear).

more psi = more parasitic load.

Re: shiming an oil pump?
Ok so I did a lot of measuring and found my springs installed height. So I am thinking my stock oil pressure is 50 min at 3500rpm. So I take the spring in and it test 21 at installed height then with one .060 shim 23 and another .060 shim 26. Shouldn’t it be around 50.
Ok so then I measure the oil psi control piston that is only .598 is there some crazy conversion out there. So I am thinking 50 pounds per square inch but the piston is not a full inch. Any idea to find out the true psi with out installing it. |
---- it I just got a new spring big diff. 8 pound more on instaled hight. Shimmed it .020. Done
