setting a tps

i did a quick search (past 15 minutes or so) and got frustrated after sifting through 20++ threads with unsure answers...

ok so i got my tps on the tb with the tb off the car and i set the meter to ohms 200k

and the reading i always get is 5.XX or 4.9X and it hovers between there...

doesnt change if i open or close the tb...

i have one side of the meter on the first pin and one side of the meter on the last pin..

3 pins on the tps..

I do it by eye. Tps will want a small amount of tension on the spring. Then drive down the street. Get up to about 45 mph down shift into 2nd and let the gear slow the car down. No code tps is done.

i dont have a write up but the volatge is checked with a multimeter and rnages from 4.5v to .5 v closed.

I might be wrong. check the ITB tach page. it has some info on how jeff did his for his ITB set up.

I done mine tonight ground on center pin, red wire "IF MOUNTED and holding as it would be on the IM" on the bottom prong. VOLTMETER set to 200k resistance"OHMS" set the TPS as close to .5 as you can with throttle plate closed. Tighten the top bolt. recheck with ohm meter again. If ok tighen the bottom bolt. RECHECK and if your off by a ---- hair and you have an engine management such as Hondata S300 and I believe ECtune you can recalibrate your throttle position if your mechanically off a bit. Best Info I can do for ya JAY

i have never gotten a TPS code unless it was unplugged. i have tried moving it all around and got nothing. normally, i just looks for any kind of marks on it that show where the screws were on it and put it there

after I installed the 74mm TB from chris , (whatever he called the company)
I took a tps from a b16 throttle body. found the volts that it needs to be set at which is 0.49vdc closed, and 4.50vdc WOT. I attached my test lead ito the middle wire on the TPS plug, with ignition in the on position (motor not running) it should read 0.49 closed, and 4.5 WOT. car runs perfect

Ive set a tps before just by using the datalogger in crome. I Just set it to show 0% closed and the car ran great. It took a few tried though the sensor kept moving a little when we were tightening it down
