Ive got a jdm d15b motor in my 93 vx hatch

Swapped it in without looking at anything, was told it has under 60k and it was dam clean so I didnt doubt it. Ive had it running for about 3 months now, n/a ofcrouse with just a full exhaust. I was driving up a big hill today and when I got to the top and had to stop, I noticed a very audible knock that seemed to correct with the rpms

At idle, it sounds like someone hammering really fast

I didnt give it any mroe gas than needed but I did drive the 14miles trip home like this. Oil and coolant appear to be fine

Whats next?

 

well, try to pinpoint the noise, if its definately coming from the motor dont drive it. i have seen loose crank pullley's cause a noise very similar to a bad rod or main bearing. also check the oil level. if it was low depending on how steep the hill was you could have starved the oil pump.

my buddys teg did the same ---- going up a hill, i told him the night befor he was low on oil.


we changed the enge the next weekend, i race a guy up the hill.. we won the race but he won the war

 

probably a rod knock. time for a rebuild.
you're lucky it's a knock and not a clack.

 

I'd pull the oil pan, baffle, and pickup, and check all the bearings. My friends integra did the same thing and later that night snapped a rod . It may just be a spun bearing.
