Default Safe to wash parts?

I bought a used vtec solinod for my d16 and it looks real goopy and dirty. It needs a new gasket and stuff like that. If soak it in simple green and scrub the crap off and inside it off, will the cleaner and water affect the unit. I will dry it real good after, but i wanna make sure first.

Mineral Spirits or break clean always work.
