I just use an impact on crank pulleys they come right off..the first time I had to take one off I had to go to art tool rental and rent an electric impact,It woked right away the thing was off in two second and it only costed like 12 buck. Well worth it when that was the only thing holding me up and I was using a freinds friends garage and had to be out of there that day.

Why would you take your crank pully off for a headgasket replacement???

Exactly...

Loosen tensioner, pull timing belt off, take head off, clean block and head, put on new HG with copper spray, put head on (dont forget the dowel pins)

Torque head down, set your TDC, set cam to UP, put belt on, tighten tensioner...you're done.

why loosen the tensioner?

slide the belt off without touching the tensinoer.......

Well, I guess on a D series it is much easier to pry it up on to the cam gear again, on my B16 there is no way in hell you can get the belt back on to the cam gears unless you loosen the tensioner and then slide the belt on, and even then its hard, this may be cuz of my thick head gasket.

Anyway it would be much easier and wouldnt hurt anything to loosen the tensioner.

just as easy as a D whening putting it back together, hold the belt into place, slide the cam gear on, work the belt onto the cam gear as you slide it on.

Alot of tricks you learn home Honda Techs, they do this all day long!

Also, then tensioner usually won;t slide, so I made a SOHC tool, it worked so good the tensioner started singing because the belt was super tight!

You guys remove the ------- crank pulley for a headgasket install?

I have personally installed the arp head studs one at a time on my crx, started for the center and worked my way around. Car has been running fine for 5 months now.
