I've pulled the hub and inner race out of the front wheel bearing to install longer Acura wheelstuds. Repacked the bearing, put it back together. Was fine for 2-3 years. But the Teg brakes developed a weird vibration that was either the rotor or the bearings.

Everyone here needs to learn how to proper "pack" wheel bearings with grease, it is almost a art!

just take a 5lb hammer and beat it out of the knuckle. Getting the race off is a beeotch though, usually you have to cut or grind the hell out of it to get it off. Be careful of hitting it, they frag into really sharp pieces (use eye protection)

a bearing splitter and 20 ton press, that race comes right off.

Honestly, get 2-3-4 people, chip in $50 each and buy a 20 ton press from Harbor Freight and a $20 bearing splitter.

Then we'll talk about using old sockets and black pipe with end caps to press in/out bearings/bushings.

Just a redneck playing with Hondas.

getting your old one out with a hammer might not be a bad idea but dont try and put in your new one with a hammer! As for the press, yes its the best way to go, My local parts/junkyard has a press and they let me use it as long as I buy the bearing from them. But Dont go buy a 20 ton press so you can do your own bearings. Seems kind of overbored to me, there is better things to spend money on.

$150 on a 20 ton press that does wheel bearings, OBX diff bearings, poly suspension bushings, your money ahead within a year if you charge BEER for use of the press.

I know, I pay BEER to use the press!

a press is pretty much the only way to go, and getting the inner race off is easy, just use a cut off wheel (cut almost all of it off at a angle, then get a large punch/chizel and hit it once and it will come right off. I do it everyday =)
