removing valvesprings with head still on car???
i have heard of people doing this before by using compressed air, but i dont have a compressor...
i have also heard of people feeding ROPE down into the cylinder the slowly cranking the motor by hand till it stops... anyone done this your thoughts on it?
also the car that this will be done on has some fatty domed (high compression) pistons... so im concerned that the rope wouldnt be even across the piston, and the valves would 'drop' a fair amount?!?!

You could try it, but it might be a pita to get the retainers back on since you are going to have to push the springs all the way down.
If the valves sink too low, you won't be able to get the retainers on at all.

i really like this idea and think it would work.....except that the motor im working on has ------ CTR/PCT piston in it... AHH ---- we should have done this when we assembled the motor :1 lol

Hey those pistons might be doing you a favor. They have more area facing the valves and you will need less rope.
Try it and take pictures. it will help a lot of people that don't have air compressors.

yeah i think i will try it like that... if ---- goes bad, gonna have to pull the head, which was the plan to begin with.
probably wont happen till next week when he gets the parts.... so other opinions are welcome also...

yeah no ------ doubt we are gonna reuse the headgasket...im pro, so it wont be questioned
but i really dont want to have to remove all that extra ---- and have to find a clean area to take apart the head. then again it would be easier to work on if it werent in the car...
cams look like the power range goes to 9250-9500rpms depending on which ones he gets...so a couple more RPMs above that im more worried about rod bolts at this point since its a B16...but, fuckit it will be fine....
