Sorry but that bearing looks like ----. I took apart a v6 chrysler with 100K that looked light years better than that. Do what everyone said, and bitch that guy out

take the bearing and run ur fingerlnail across it. it kinda just looks like a new bearing with that coating ---- just starting to wear off. or maybe im retarded

New rings aren't sharp. If the motor has been dry turned, that bearing suggests it has (new aluminide coating scored like ----), then I would suggest checking all your bearing tolerances when you put the new ones in. I mean the journals against the bearings with some plastigauge you might need to re-grind your crank journals. Also that cylinder wall looks to have a gouge in it. Take it to a machine shop and see what they think.

about those bearings, it looks like it ran dry, or a wrong type of oil (if your oil is too thick its acting like its a solid substance at high revs).
I think it probably was a result of a oil with the lack of anti scuff additives (like zinc), it looks like a typical case of adhesive wear also known as scuffing

Also, i would say it had some serious stress ....at least thats what i make up from the picture since it does show some pitting what is a result of inner cracks due to high loads. these high loads can be a result of the scuffing issue

EDIT:
Sorry didn't read the entire post, it could be a protective layer thats wearing off indeed. I did find it unusual that it was just partly polished....
I would say...its probably a healthy bearing IF it hasn't had a few hunderd miles. I would replace them to be sure but.....

rod cap bearing, nothing deep at all but are the scratches from turning it dry? i never turned it, just took it apart.

i don't know if anybody can tell, but here's a ring. any idea what bad ones look like? this is a top one, kind of rounded edges, but the second down is pretty sharp. get new ones anyway?

i appreciate any comments, even criticism. what do you guys think?

I think this looks like a trailer park genuine chocolate face rebuild with dirty ass chocolaty hands with the sideways scuff marks on the rod bearings, from ---- being pushed out by the oil pressure....
