Default RE-Tourque headstuds.....anybody need to do this?

I have a z6 and ARP headstuds, after the headgasket blew the first time, I noticed the headstuds didnt seem very tight when I was taking them off. I put a new headgasket in and maybe 700-800 miles later now my blown headgasket symptoms are returning....boost is much more laggy and I'm getting some white smoke. Should I have went in after a certian time period and re-torqued the headstuds?

How do you install you're ARP's? the instructions say to only thread the studs in hand tight so thats what I did, then torqued the nuts on to 65 ft. lbs if I remember right. yes I'm using the right torque sequence, I used helms manual torque spec

I put my arps in and I tightened them down untill the allen was about to slip. Then I torked the nuts down to 70lbs. Started the car up and let it run untll it was warm. Let it cool and torked them again. About 3 months later I was doing a bunch of 5th gear pulsl :1 Like a dumb *** and poped the hg. I then put a mls hg in and I have not had a problem since. Mls hg is the only way I will ever go. The graphite looking paper hgs are crap!!!!

MLS is only way to go. I am not going to pull my cams and everything to retorque the headstuds. Was the head checked for warping after the first hg? The block can be warped too.

I just installed arp's on my b16 with a cometic hg.

Installed same as you guys have stated above. I'll be re-checking torque about 100 miles afterwards. Just to be safe

I used the moly lube from ARP, and yes all my hg's were MLS, the first one was a cheap *** ebay gasket set one, the second was a felpro.

I've had friends who have used ARP studs, and never had an issue like that.

I've reused head studs before with ebay head gaskets and never had a problem either.

Strange problem you're having, though I've always heard some people say they have to be retorqued.

I always torq d series 10lbs over. And always retorq after about 500miles... Your tune might be detonating a little bit and causing the gasket to blow, check into that to.
