A quick question for the potentially homosexual aka NA-savvy header question

Here's my situation:

- I'd like to do one of the ghetto topmounts like MADMAX and whiterice have been knocking off, using the top half of a 4-2-1 two piece header.
- I can't find a bargain B-series header at the moment.
- I vaguely recall someone saying all/some/one brand header was fashioned so it's flange was in the same place as one of the OEM manifolds.

What I'd like to do is use my access to any stock B-series part I want to fab up my manifold, oil drain, and the rest of my charge piping, and go back later with an actual header top half. To do this, I need a much better idea of parts interchange than I have... if you can help me, I sincerely promise to not hack on you for possessing slow faggot naturally aspirated knowledge. Thanks.

:)

If you don't know the answer, and you can't understand what I am asking because English is a (distant) second language to you, then don't post French-Canadian responses.

Thanks,

JD

Hey, we don't knock those off. We have made the best ones to date and even coined the name for them.

I would just try to get one of those JDM JASMA headers like I used in my b-series one. They usually go for cheap and have the same placement as the cast manifolds. Or just get a stock cast piece.

I spent most of my xmas break off school either pulling Fatherhood Duty or tuning other people's slow ---- so I could afford tuition for the spring semester (I spent too much on xmas). The racecar needs an OBD0-2 distributor adapter plug and OEM exhaust mani to run, and misc fab to be boosted.

Still a lot of bottlenecks before I get it where I want it - only have RC 550's laying around, needs something other than free tires on free rimz, cage, suspension limiters, fuel feed line upgraded, etc - but yeah I have a nearly-running car.

Hit up hmotorsonline. They have thousands of these headers laying around.

I just throw that term out there to refer to the JDM legal headers.

Most of the fleabay headers seem to have the correct flange and look to be about the right angle. There isn't really enough clearance for them to be far off the mark. But i'm interested in what everyone finds out.

Re: A quick question for the potentially homosexual aka NA-savvy header question

So far I've found that most of the aftermarket header designs (ranging from d-series pacesetter crap to DC sports 4-2-1's) all seem to have the same size flange for the 2 piece sections that bolt together. Hell JD, they're even the same size flanges as the stock honda cast 4-2-1's...had to fab up a down piece for my friend's d15b and I used a DC b-series down piece section and it was the same size, only had to add a little length to make it fit properly. I'd say hit up ebay for one of those el-cheapo 2 piece manifolds. Brace and reinforce the welds and you should be golden.

My problem is, I can get one of the eGay headers for $90 to the door. That's $50 too much, and $70 more than I want to pay. :-[

Re: A quick question for the potentially homosexual aka NA-savvy header question

I got mine for $41 shipped for a D-Series. The same place has $65 shipped for B-Series: http://stores.ebay.com/JSAuto-Accessories

If you do get a chinese header and want to boost it via elephant:
  • Do not use the studs they provide.
  • Do not use the 2-hole gasket they provide.
  • Make a brace for the top part to the block
  • Make a brace for the elephant to the block.

Good luck.

Here is one for $52

Ceramic for $55
