Default Question about 1988 Accord

Now we're building a sand rail and there's this 1988 Accord I can get for $150. I want to use the engine and transmission.
I just need some specifications on the engine, all I know is it's a 2.0L
I want to know if the block is aluminum, and if the head is 16 valves.
Power output and engine codes would be nice too.
This is going to be a lightweight sandrail, hence we're opting for an aluminum 4 banger, and turbocharged.

I'm pretty sure that block is not aluminum. I know it's a real strong block, I think it's an A20? I almost want to say cast iron but I'm not real sure. Also don't look for HP numbers to be real high...

Yes, they have 16 valve heads(the fuel injected ones I know for sure). I believe the blocks are iron, not aluminum. I have an 89 at my disposal. Anybody want it?

Its an A20A1 or A20A3. Cast Iron block, Aluminum Head. 12 Valves for car'b and fuel injection :P . Its pushin roughly 100-110 Horses. Better hope its an Lx-i. Lx's and Dx's are pushing around 95 to 100 horse's. But there really stout. There know to run past 500,000 miles with out any major problems. And there closed deck blocks, They like boost.

Are you sure? I could have sworn it has "16 valves" stamped on the head in big bold letters. I'll have to go look, it's been a while.

Positive Boost...16 valves for 1990.

You owe me a dollar if I produce a picture of a 16 valve engine in a 1989 Accord.

I had that ------- head off and I could have sworn it had 16 valves, but that was a while ago so I might be wrong(more than likely).

An A series engine wont tell you on the valve cover. It will be on the breather. I have never seen a 16 valve A series engine. If you were working on an accord with 16 valves, it was newer model than 1990 and the engine would have had to have be an f-series. I think :P

Well I know for sure it said "xx valves" on the valve cover and it has the gay *** flip up lights so it was an 89 at the latest. I'll find out today after work.
