Push button start button

Can anyone tell me how to set up a start button?

Re:Push button start button

ok, several problems with this post...

1. this is a turbo site, and this is your first post, nothing turbo related.

2. we have NO idea what car you have, or any information.

3. since your new here, i'll inform you, we usually make fun of this kinda stuff, so your kinda setting your self up.

hope that helps.

OK,

My Bad! I have a Civic 2000 EX. I want to set it up with a push button starter. Just wondering if anybody knew how to do this.

Re:Push button start button

a little better, but you still might want to review numbers 1 and 3. as for the starter.... most of what i have heard from ricers, is that you have to pull the starter wires from the back of the ignition switch (the key thing in your sterring wheel), and run the "starter engage" wires to a button instead. again, we don't do much of this kinda stuff here, so i'm not sure you'll get much more help. check ebay, and ask someone selling one if they have directions (tell them you'll buy one form them if you can read the directions first).

Re:Push button start button

Sorry boys i got you all beat as much as i like the kick start which is very nice, and the pull start i really like that but mine is the most original. heres how it works step by step.

1. i take my honda key and put it in the ignition
2. I press down my Clutch (thats the furthest pedal on
the left for those who dont have one.)
3. Then I turn my key and the car starts its pretty cool. you all should try it!!

Re:Push button start button

You guys are lucky!! I have to throw 5 bucks at some homeless people to push my car down the street, so I can start it by popping the clutch while its in 1st gear. Girls dig it though, well at least the retarded ones. They laugh and drool all over the place, but then I just do one wheel burnoutss in their puddles of drool.

Re:Push button start button

When you pop the cluch I bet you get some crazy ass burnouts huh?

Re:Push button start button

Okay push button start is bullshit and ill tell u why
*Because u still need to put the key in to turn it on to ignition,to unlock the steering lock

*If u turn the key that far u might as well turn it a 1/4 turn more and start it

*Forget the race style push button start, unless its a race car and ur willing to have no key at all needed to start it,Which is still stupid cause it cuts the theft time down by 2 minutes :)

*Save your money and buy some perfomance stickers for ya car.

Thats my 2cents

the black wire off the ignition controller it has a white stripe on it, cut that run it to your button, and put a positive lead to the input on the input on the button, wah lah make sure you use at least 10 gauge wire otherwise it wont put out a good current. hope this helps you and uncle ben's along the way :) payce.

Re:Push button start button

The installation is fairy straight-forward.

First, rip apart ignition, unplug all wires.

Next, pull the wires really hard so there is a lot of slack.

Then, connect any random combination of wires to the button.

Finnally, start your car up and be the coolest dude on the block.

Re:Push button start button

damn, you guys are mean... maybe this dudes ignition is just fucked.

i know a guy who had to get a momentary switch(pushbutton start) cuz his ignition was fucked and wasn't sending enough power to the starter. the starter would act like it wants to start the car, but you could hear how weak it was. it only cost him less than $10 from radio shack for the switch and misc ----, so you dont have to buy some expensive bullshit "type r" pushbutton start. anyways, the pushbutton fixed his problem cheaper than a new ignition. kinda ghetto but it worked.

LOL, yeah on a 2000 honda civic EX maybe the ignition already broke down. Also the switch has absolutly NOTHING to do with how much power the starter is getting. Their is no resister or anything in a button. Sorry bad excuse try again!!!

When I pay bums to push my car I at least have the courtesy to use second or third gear. That way I don't get bum faceprints on my dusty hatch.

ok, i missed the part about it being a 2000 model. i dont really care about this dudes ignition anymore... however, as far as the momentary switch having nothing to do with how much power the starter was getting, you're wrong. that did fix the problem - no bullshit. i dont know how he wired his ---- exactly, but i do know his car starts now. before he could try forever, and his car would never start. his car sat in his driveway for like two weeks before this guy we know told him to hook up a momentary switch, and helped him do it. i can ask him exactly how his stuff is wired up if you still think im bullshitting, but it did have something to do with how much power the starter was getting because his car isnt sitting in his driveway useless anymore.

Re:Push button start button

this is a very easy point to prove, every type of electronic powered item needs a certain amount of juice to be used correct? correct. now lets say you try and hook up a 18 gauge wire to a Sony 1000 watt rms amplifier, you think you are really gonna hear your bass ? or you think that the lil protection light is going to kick on and hear the sound of god calling you a dumbass ? ill go for door number 2. if you look under the hood, you will see the starter sylinoid connected with a black wire with a white line, that wire is somewhere in the ball park of 8-10 gauge. now run a piece of 14-18 gauge speaker wire to it from the positive and watch your hand burn and scar in seconds. i thought that most people on this board knew about cars. but hey, at least you people think you are kewl by calling people ricers, hmm i have a huge sticker on my hood that is considered ricey right ? is 12 seconds ricey too ? yeah i thought not. good luck mounting that b16 in your moms pinto. with that, nuff said, he wants a push button switch, leave him be, S2000's are equipped with them, that makes them rice ? didnt think so. and im out.

Re:Push button start button

you can't put a remote start on a stick, you need to depress the clutch, or rig the sensor so it thinks you are.

yes, a post from august is brought back to life with some input by kyle:

I installed a remote start on my whip, sure the antenna sucks so you have to be within 20 feet for it to work, but it's still bling blingin.
