Project civic "all motor"
My best friend girlfriend is allowing us to work on her civic but we can't boost it or spray it. This seems like a pretty fun challenge for us and we wants to see what we can achieve with this project. So we thought about this setup
colder spark plugs and conductor wires 4 2 1 headers Cold air intake Exhaust system Catalic converter victor x intake manifold upgrade stock injectors v-afc new throttle body and was wondering would we need to upgrade new piston and rods to change the compression for more horsepower goals? How much horsepower do you think we can achieve with those options? possibly 20 extra horsepower? Again this is my first time building an engine without thinking of boosting. any other suggestions? |
Re:Project civic "all motor"
swap the bottom end for a b18 ;)
b16 motor you're working on right? |
Re:Project civic "all motor"
no its only a d16 :-[

Re:Project civic "all motor"
buy high compression pistons.

Re:Project civic "all motor"
Go to ezboard.com search for the "hondadseries" board. Thats a board i used to go to along time ago. Its outta commision never the less lots of info. Some would stuff like vx pistons and get like a 11 to 1 or higher compression rations. If you can find it let me know.

Re:Project civic "all motor"
we'll check that out. Thanks for the tips

Re:Project civic "all motor"
what is the engine code and what car/year/model ?

Re:Project civic "all motor"
its a 97 civic ex

Re:Project civic "all motor"
change the CAM ;)

Re:Project civic "all motor"
zc pistons will bump compression nicely, um i have a aem fuel rail ill sell you...pm me

Re:Project civic "all motor"
only use one header, and the victorX manifold makes power in like the 7000+ rpm range.
get a 4-1 header, a stage 2 zex cam, cold air intake, and if you are hardcore, some pm7 pistons, although with the big cam, the piston might hit the valves |

Re:Project civic "all motor"
Skip all that ----, and just mill .040" off the head. ;D

Re:Project civic "all motor"
Just so you know that intake mannifold on a N/A car will make power from 7k to 10k rpm.Not verry usefull when the valvetrain will only got to 7500 safeley.I wouldnt recomend it for an N/A aplication.Especially on a D series. Also I dont think you need to upgarde the injectors. The AFC will be enough.Once shese done maxing out her credit card youll be lucky to net an extra 25hp.
Just boost it and tell her "oh that?thats a new heat collector so that the engine bay doesnt get too hot with all the horse power the new injectors are making" :P But seriouseley if you want the most H.P for the buck on an N/A set up get a head packagehttp://www.alaniztechnologies.com/,header,exhoust,AFC,throttle boady, and cam gear. That will get you some decent H.P. This was my original plan before I found HMT. |
Re:Project civic "all motor"
your manifold and upgraded injectors will be worthless on that setup... and that car is too heavy for a single cam to haul ass, My advice, go get a nice clutch and a nos kit, or CUUSSTOOOOM TUUUURRRBOOOOOO HMMMMMMM!!!

Re:Project civic "all motor"
Why not try a cheap setup like i did (hey, i'm broke! ;D)?I went out and got a d16a6 bottom, and swapped pm3 pistons into it. Sure, they stick above the deck a bit, but if you use a stock d15b2 head gasket, no worries. Mated to a z6 or a y8 head, and some bolt ons, it's a little monster that eats up most of the "bolt on" 99 si and newer civic si's. BTW, i have this in a crx, so she has a little more weight over me, but it makes decent power, and with a port matched and polished head pulls VERY hard up to 7500 rpm.

>Cam,
>Port your intake manifold (or just buy a bigger 1) >fuel injectors >pistons >get A VTEC CONTROLLER! if ur not gonna turbo it you could use the higher compression |
Re:Project civic "all motor"
try to find a good b series motor and swap it in.
|
Re:Project civic "all motor"
buy a nitrous kit and hide it VERY well
|
Re:Project civic "all motor"
it wont hit the valves, if you have seen pm7 pistons they have huge valve reliefs .455 lift is quite a lot |

Re:Project civic "all motor"
Pm7's will bump your c/r up pretty good man. Just make sure to clay the entire assembly first with the cam of your choice in there to see how much clearence u reaaly have. And if it works...use high-test only after that...drill it into your g/f's head! ;D
