Default powder coating my valve cover?

I was wondering about this illustrious process of powder coating, specifically as it refers to my D15B7 valve cover. It's just so dull, I think I want it to be red. what's the process of powder coating? is it something I can do on my own? my dad has a bunch of tools for body work, so we could probably polish the surface if that's involved.

i do powder coating for a living. you can do it at home but you need to buy the podwer you want and a powder machine u cant just use any spray gun. u can find a home unit on e-bay fairly cheap. if you end up doing this u have to clean the surface really well you cant have finger prints or anything on it no grease or dust or anything or the coat wont come out right. but u have to bake it at about 400 to 405 and you can do this in your parents oven or any oven that is what cures the powder and you should preheat the oven for about 20min. then time it in the oven for about 12 min or about 10 then pull it out and dont touch the coat until it is fully dry. if you need any more info just let me kno.

powder coating lasts longer and its way harder.

also dont do that in your own personal oven there are health risks if you do.

yeah, definately don't do that. The ads for the home kit say it right on the page. DO NOT USE ANY OVEN USED FOR FOOD. Not exactly those words, but close. Other then that he was right on.

Hmm...thats interesting. Just had my wheels powder coated about 2 months ago and while talking with the guy, he said that powder coating has no health risks what so ever. He said you could even eat the powder (not that you would want to). Wonder where the health risks come in?
