Pistons and rods question
Ok, I'm about 1 step away from getting my Gude Head Package, and I have to schedule shop time (Sometime in learly january, Id do it myself, but timing scares me, we've had issues before). My question is, should I get my pistons and rods put in at the same time or wait till I get boosted? I'm planning on boosting sometime in the spring. I'm gettin arias 8.5:1 pistons and eagle rods. Will the low comp pistons without boost make me run like a turd? (I mean its a NT turd now but still)

Re:Pistons and rods question
from my experiences...it wasn't that bad. the car was a 99 Maxima though, 3L V6 with JDM 8.5:1 DET pistons(stock is 10.5:1)...it ran decently N/A, but you could notice the drop in power. if it'll cost more again in the spring to open it up again, I say kill 2 birds with 1 stone, put em in now! just drive normal and you probably won't notice.

Re:Pistons and rods question
what do you mean timing scares you? Man up and put the head on yourself. If you want to do internals, be weary of the extra cost (above that of the parts) that you may incur. Boring/honing may be necessary, the block will need to be notched for the rods, and you might want to do all new bearings on the crank (which may need to be polished). All that ---- adds up unless you have a hookup at a machine shop. Anyway, do it all at once if you have the funds, since you will need to take the motor apart again to do the internals

Sounds good, thanks guys. yeah timing scares me, on my old car we tried doing the timing ourselves, followed the haynes manual step for step, double and triple checked everything, still was off and ended un bustin valves on the #5 cyl. so I just dont ---- with it ne more
