piston rings postion???
 
i was wondering if there was a specific way the rings had to sit when putting in pistons into the block. any pics out there with directions? would it matter how the rings sat on the pistons? anything would help... thanks

yes, look in the repair manual. look in the tech section where this post should be.

This should have been posted in the Tech Forum, but Ill tell you this much:
Basically the ring ends must be staggered. You also are not supposed to position the end gap inline with the piston pin (3'oclock or 9 o'clock) or the 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock positions. Reason being that you dont want all of the ring ends along the same position.
