After all that my stater ground was wrong. So my stater is now truning over my engine. The engine is getting gas and my spark plugs are fireing. but the engine is not running on its own. what the next step. why is it not catching. timing? im almost postive the timing is on. when you set the crank timing on the crank pulley which is supposed to be up the red or white line.

First off you firing order is correct right? #1 is actually #1?

 

I would say check your firing order. it's easy to mess this up. Done it before, once, and after hours of checking everything, Checked the timing and vroommm.

 

i know this is elementry but start at the lower left on the dizzy and thats cyl 1 and then it goes clockwise right top left cyl 2. am i wrong.

 

it goes 1-3-4-2 starting at the lower left going clockwise. the white mark is your TDC.

 

Thats funny I swapped Distros and #1 became the upper left. Roll the motor over by hand to top dead center. take off the distro cap. whatever its pointing at is number 1. Then go clockwise.
