Is this an ok deal for a valve job?
I was quoted 200 bucks for a 3 angle valve job, new exhaust guides, and to resurface the head. I've heard they're work is good, however, was wondering if this is overly priced. I thought machine work was cheaper? -Joe

I think you might be getting ripped off unless the place is really good. I think that my valve job cost like 25 bucks. I had my cylinders honed, pistons put in, He cleaned my block, polished my crank, put in new valve seals and put in my valves for $112. I think what is making it so high is the head gitting milled. It takes a long time to set up that machine so it won't be wrong.

$200 is a good deal for good work. The head is always the most expensive part. My machine shop does it in this order
Clean
Take apart
Clean
Cut the seats
Clean
Mill
Glass bead
Clean
Assemble
It's alot of steps to do it the right way. It's alot of money to do it the right way as well.
