Ive never done it but I suppose you'd put a spacer either on top or bottom of the spring. The stiffer the spring the more oil pressure your going to have, figuring you have the correct bearing clearances. The spring and the little piston on the bottom are what regulate oil pressure. Once the oil in your oil main oil gallery has built up enough pressure it pushes the little piston in the oil pump up and it recirculates the oil back to the intake side of the pump. So holding the piston in place longer holds oil pressure higher.

But with proper clearances is added oil pressure really needed? Im not really looking for extra pressure, Im looking for more flow when its needed. Make sense?

yeah volume would seem to be more important than the pressure.

Hotrex did that I think.

I just went with the Z6 pump instead of the Y8 on my last build.

why did you go with the z6 oil pump instead is it better? please let me know because I'm building a y8 right now

Z6 is supposed to be better. I needed a new one anyway, so I went with it.

Only drawback is that there is no place for the dipstick on a Y8 block, and the Z6 oil pump doesn't have the oil stick hole. o you have to do regular changes, and have an oil pressure gauge.

You could also tap the skirt on the Y8 block, install a dipstick, and modify a longer than D-series Honduh dipstick to measure your oil for you.
