Re: oil/psi gauge
This must be an electric gauge, did it come with a sensor?
|
Re: oil/psi gauge
mechanical - neet to T it off at the sender unit (usual location)
electrical - need a sensor There could also be a pos/neg for a backlight on it... you're not talking about that are you? |
Re: oil/psi gauge
it has pos/neg then next to that it has an s which i believe is the signal wire
so i dont really now if its electrical or mechanical a friend gave it to me!!! |
Re: oil/psi gauge
its electrical...u need a sending unit. do u have one?

Re: oil/psi gauge
If there's just a pos, neg, and a "signal wire", then it's a mechanical gauge, and the pos and neg are for the back light.
If it were electrical it would have a pos and neg for the light, plus an ignition, signal, and neg for the sensor as well. There would be 5 connections if it were electrical. At least that's how my autometer electronic oil press gauge is. |
Re: oil/psi gauge
There is no signal wire on a mechanical gauge, just a nylon tube. Copper is better.
