Default oil leak

there really isn't a spot for this so i'm putting it here. i've got an oil leak that appears to be coming from between the tranny and the block. i've looked all over that thing and its the only source i can find where theres oi which appears to be coming from the backside of the tranny seal. has anyone encountered this before?

i have a 1997 accord lx with the f22b2. i'm not sure on how to fix this. i've been running mobil 1 full synth 0w40 and i'm heading to the store to buy a 10w30/40 hoping it'll be thick enough to slow the leak. i did some googling and searching and was lead to it possibly being the rear main seal which involves pulling the tranny, not a cheap fix.

i've never pulled my engine or tranny i've got limited tools and only my self paced knowledge of this which ranks around amateur. anyone have any ideas?

unless your car came with synthetic or your tranny came with synthetic, stick with it. unless you flushed it all out and cleaned it.

how bad is it leaking? what kind of oil? is this an automatic transmission?

How far are you from yakima? I can fix it I've dropped my tranny so many times that I can have it out and back in about 4 hours by myself, without any special tools. I'm sure a 5th gen isn't too different.

have not flushed it. the leak isn't horrid but i am putting in a quart every a week or two. 97 cords run conventional 5w30 stock, i moved to 0w40 full syn for turbo and when that fell through i just kept using the oil. sadly auto tranny

Sweet, just lmk. Hopefully it doesn't rain that weekend. I prefer working outside, but I have a garage we can work in.

Then we can head over to jeffciv23's house and have a bbq.
