Thanks for the responses. I really never thought of taking one off of a different motor. I already have the sandwich plat though.

Sell it and run it it off the oil pressure sending unit.To feed the oil too the turbo.
Your going too be buying steel braided lines, might as well get the kit.

The d15z1 has them also. In the 92-95 Civic VX. It has rather narrow coolant lines running to it from the rear water pipe going to the water pump. Much smaller looking compared to the b-series ones I've seen.

The z1 is a hot running, lean-burn motor, so I guess it's needed to keep the oil lasting to help the motors run well over 200k miles w/no problems. I can't imagine it would be there to hurt the motor.

I think i'm gonna pull one from a accord. I was told by a repitable mechanic that most accords have the sandwich plates on the back of the block.

The oil filter is the same on all 84-2000 hondas/acuras.Except 84-87 had a fat oil filter but even the new smaller ones screw on too them.So the oil cooler on a sohc would fit dohc.
I really don't think that the oil cooler on any of them, are bigger on each motor that has them.
Then they would have different oil filters for the bigger oil coolers.
I have never seen a stock b series one.I have a dohc zc one and a accord one they look the same too me.
I guess you can run part numbers.

I always wondered about the whole thermostat thing w/ add on air-to-oil coolers... So it's closed at startup (duh), gets hot enough to open and then all of a sudden your sandwich plate is gonna be returning ambient temperature oil to the motor. Wouldn't that be a bit of a shock? 180deg->70deg ?

Thoughts? :1
