Default Oil Catch Can Vaccum ???

I've been looking around trying to figure out the correct way to run my oil catch can, but it seems that there are several theories floating around on here. Right now I just have a line running from my valve cover and one from the black box to the catch can. Can someone please explain and maybe even draw my retarded *** a diagram of the correct way to route everything.?

The can is vented though. Is that ok or does it need to be sealed?

A sealed can wouldn't do anything. The point of the vented can is to create even the slightest pressure difference between the can and the engine. With it sealed the pressure is essentially the same, but with the can vented the positive engine pressure forces the flow into the can.
