Oh why did I have to buy a dsm
So I bought a 91 Mitsubishi mirage for $100. The car runs nice for about 10 min then just dies If I wait a bit it fires right up and goes a bit more then dies again. I read that these cars have shitty ecus could this be my problem? Do these cars have a main relay like hondas? Feel free to call me a dumbass for buying a dsm :P

Sell it to me for $5.
Or buy a ------- service manual. Theres a good chance the caps are leaking in your ECU. when they leak, it ruins the fuel pump circuit, hince the car just dies. duplicate the problem, and check for fuel pressure at the rail. otherwise, cycle the ign switch and have someone open the gas cap to listen for the fuel pump kicking on. If you have fuel pressure and the pumps kicking, start diagnosing the ignition system etc. until you find the problem.
Its gonna be something stupid i promise. good thing is parts for CSM's are cheap.
google the mirage/colt forums for info from ppl who still care about those cars.

i drove the car to a buddies that lives a couple blocks down to look at the ecu. The ecu was a reman unit and it looked fine inside. I drove it around the block a bunch of times and it never died. I think the lock up torque converter is stuck thou it has no low end power and seems stuck in high gear. I guess I will test the relays next.
