Default OEM Honda Bearing sizes

I'm currently in the process of building a fresh b18a1 bottom that I think I'm going to use for a LS/vtec swap. I've got a few goodies going into it (b16 oil and water pump, arp rod bolts) to help beef up the bottom end, but my deal is this...I've got parts from 3 different motors going together on this. I've got just a bare block with the bearing stamps for the main journals, but a crank from a different motor with it's own bearing stamps, and then rods from a completely different motor with it's own bearing marks. Honda bearings are usually done by color coding, but since it's such a mix match, where can I find the actual bearing sizes instead of colors? I don't want to end up ripping my hair out trying to guess what sizes they are. :P

You are confused. You match up the letters on the block with the numbers on the crank, whala > main bearing colors.

Then, match up the letters on the crank with the numbers on the rods, whala > rod bearing colors.


However, sometimes the crank is worn down so much that the right color bearings will be too loose. Then you would need to go up a size.

If you want the actual sizes, search HT, a guy posted them there.

I thought that was how they went, but when I asked a machinist he told me they were all going to be wrong. Most of the time I have everything remachined to match an oversized bearing, and have the crank retreated after it's been cut. Just makes things go faster in the end when all the sizes are the same. Plus this crank is still minty fresh and has a nice micropolish to it, so I don't want to touch it.
And while I'm here, what have you guys heard over the years with regards to using the old-school b20a1 cranks in the LS's? Ran across this a little bit ago on a different site...wondered to it's validity...
How about this An ls block w/ a b20a1 old school prelude crank, b16 rods which have to be shaved to fit in the rod journals, and b16 pistons, with the combination you will break out a 2.3371 liter stroker bottom end which we call the notorious stroker kit, and yes we have done quite a few but since I am closing shop and moving to co then it is all free info...

I had that problem before. I solved it by using standard size bearing. Since standard bearing is a thick size, it will wear itself into the size of the crankshaft. I would probably go with standard size bearing on the rods too. I know its not color coded like its suppose to be but it works just fine. I've been running my Ls/Vtec with no problem.

Honda is just really picky when it comes to clearances. Also, bearings never "wear" in. If they did that, the crank would be toast and it would probably spin a bearing.
