Default obd2 to obd1

i boosted my d15z6 civic 98 and bought a obd1 ecu and conversion harness. the ecu was suposed to be chipped and had turbo maps ect. but installed it and straight away had problems... engine light is on, holds back allot on revs, runs rich on idle but lean when boost and sometimes will run irracticly on idle, overall its worse than the standard obd2 ecu, is there something im missing?? or anything i can do. thanks

Did you give your specs to the guy who programmed it? How do you know it's lean or rich? Do you have a wideband o2 sensor? You can't just slap an ECU in there without tuning.

by lamda sensor, you mean stock o2 sensor or wideband? At any rate, you still need to tune. He made you a "base" map- something to start with...

basemap wont get u far, and u cant really tune just based on what setup u have telling someone. climate and location vary, he might could get u close, but wont get u very far. if u boost under lean conditions u are gonna have problems, sooner rather than later

Don't waste your time with the stock O2 sensor. An LC-1 wideband will run you $150 and uberdata or crome tuning software are free. You'll need a datalogging cable and burning hardware too. Or, you find someone locally who will tune it for you. pgmfi.org has a tuner directory.

Do you know how to check for your CEL?

pgmfi.org • Index page

crome, uberdata and other software can be had there. There's also a tuner directory.
